On 27 October, students of the Free Thought University (FTU) gathered to hear a lecture about the foreign policy of Azerbaijan. However, they witnessed a completely new type of a lecture. Lacking an official lecturer who was accidentally absent, the event moderated by several speakers, turned into a highly interactive discussion and every student was given a chance to contribute their thoughts in a mosaic of opinions that in the end would make a user-generated lecture.
Though the topic was Azerbaijan's foreign policy, students started from a concept of foreign policy. One of the moderators, Rashad Shirin introduced the term "democratic foreign policy" into the audience and asked how they should define it. Wanderings around this notion students inevitably arrived at the question whether they feel they participate in foreign policy making of the country?
Another moderator Khadija tried to explore the subject by practical examples, namely Azerbaijani-Turkish relations of these days. What strong and weak points of Azerbaijani foreign policy were revealed by Zurich protocols and flag crisis - the second part of the event was devoted to this issue.
